How high should you mount a TV?

The best TV height is not a number copied from another room. It depends on the seating position, screen size, and whether the TV needs to work around a fireplace or built-in.

Start with seated eye level

For a primary seating area, the screen center should generally land near seated eye level. That keeps your neck relaxed and makes longer viewing more comfortable.

Let the room guide the final placement

A console, soundbar, fireplace, windows, and built-ins all affect the visual center. The goal is a height that feels composed in the room and still works for actual viewing.

Fireplace installs need extra consideration

A TV over a fireplace naturally sits higher. A pull-down system can bring the screen closer to eye level when the fireplace is not in use, while a fixed mount calls for more careful viewing-angle planning.

Plan before drilling

Measure the seating, TV, and any soundbar before the appointment. VistaMount confirms placement with you before installation begins.
